LA VENESSIANA ATELIER | VENICE COOKING SCHOOL

The Atelier

La Spezeria is also the culinary extension of the Venice food and lifestyle magazine La Venessiana. Both atelier and blog share forgotten notions of authentic Venetian cuisine, enriched with local and exotic herbs, blossoms, and spices. So yes, la Spezeria - the spice atelier, is completely dedicated to exploring forgotten recipes, to recreate the culinary heritage of the Republic of Venice.

Benvenuti - Welcome!

We are Iris and Lina, owners and founders of La Spezeria, a spice garden atelier set in a private garden in Venice, located on the premises of the former monastery of San Zaccaria near Piazza San Marco. Since 2001, we have been collecting historical recipes and the forgotten secrets and benefit of Venetian food culture, which fell into oblivion after 1797, when the Serenissima Republic of Venice ceased to exist. In our atelier, we are testing recipes, and share them with you in ebooks, recipe cards, online cooking courses and retreats.

Our Story ..

or rather, this is the story of a very special garden. It's what remains of the brolo garden, part of which the nuns of San Zaccaria once gave to the fledgling Republic of Venice
